Mary Anne Olalia

Research Student

Mary Anne is a Master of Nursing student in the Leadership in Health Care Policy and Education stream at Toronto Metropolitan University. The idea of ‘working with, and not for’ is the foundation for their professional practice, underpinning their interest in humanistic and holistic approaches to enhancing health equity and supporting people from ‘where’ and ‘when’ they are at. As a research student at the SE Research Centre, Mary Anne will support our understanding of mindfulness-based interventions for end-of-life care through a scoping review. Mary Anne’s skills align most in knowledge transfer and education, with past experiences as the summative artist for the #ThoughtsForDementia young caregiver community events and a presenter on topics such as professional reflexivity and healthcare equity for conferences including the International Council of Nurses Congress and The Michener Institute of Education’s Convergence. They hope that, through sharing experiences and building community and authentic relationships, they can contribute to advancing healthcare education and research.
